President Donald Trump on Sunday said he may have developed his top choice for White House press secretary just this weekend.
Speaking at Shannon International Airport in County Clare, Ireland, before boarding Air Force One for Washington, Trump asked reporters: “Would anybody like to be press secretary?”
When the president was asked if he had any favorite for the high-profile position, he responded: “No, but I may have developed one over the weekend.
“We have a lot of people that want it. Many people want it. Many people have been written about, as you know.”
“You know what we’re going to do for a little while … we’re going to use the secretaries – [Secretary of State] Marco [Rubio], maybe [Vice President] JD [Vance] just did it, he did a great job. But we’re gonna use [Treasury Secretary Scott [Bessent], we’re gonna use [Commerce Secretary] Howard [Lutnick], we’re gonna use a lot of our secretaries, [Education Secretary] Linda McMahon is so great. And we’ll do it for a little while, but ultimately I’ll pick somebody.”
When one reporter pushed Rubio to host the next White House press briefing, Trump said: “You want to do Marco next? I will.”
