DHS chief confirms: Ilhan Omar ‘married her brother to try to bring him into the United States’

Long have there been claims that Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Somali immigrant and Democrat representing a Somali-dominated congressional district in Minnesota, engaged in some flagrantly illegal actions some years ago.

The reports suggest that she married her brother in trying to give him American residency.

She is, after all, a native of Somalia, and often has declared her intention to protect Somalia in her actions as a member of Congress.

And while those reports never were definitely documented, even though Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., confirmed members of Congress moved to subpoena Omar to ask her questions, largely because Somalian birth and family records at best vague, there’s now a change.

A report from the Daily Mail states bluntly that, “Trump’s top immigration official claims an internal investigation found that Congresswoman Ilhan Omar ‘married her brother’ and could be facing deportation.”

Markwayne Mullin, the chief of the Department of Homeland Security, said, “We know that she married her brother to try to bring him into the United States. We know he lives now in London.”

The report said, “He was speaking about the second man Omar married, who the Daily Mail has previously reported is Ahmed Elmi. Both are originally from Somalia.”

Mace’s promise was clear:

Omar’s scandal sheet already runs to volumes. One raised serious questions about how her net worth exploded from a few hundred thousand dollars to tens of millions in a matter of a year or three. And then went back down to almost zero.

There also have been dozens and dozens of fraud investigations, arrests and convictions among Somalis in her district related to social services fraud. Some were as basic as offenders setting up a name and corporation, claiming to be running and daycare and billing the government for millions for meals.

Only there were no meals, no children, and no daycare.

Mace’s accusations had been specific: “Public reporting claims Ilhan Omar told friends she married the man who became her second husband, allegedly her brother, in 2009 to help him get papers in the U.S. She had previously entered a religious marriage in 2002 and didn’t legally dissolve this earlier union until years later. Federal marriage fraud is a felony punishable by prison, steep fines, and deportation, and there are additional potential state and tax law questions which need to be answered. If she has nothing to hide, let’s put it all on the table.”

Previously, WorldNetDaily reported that journalist Benny Johnson exposed the reasons why Omar is said to have married her own brother.

He said, in a Newsmax interview, “You asked about Ilhan Omar marrying her brother. That’s horrifying. Being inbred is a very bad thing in Western civilization. It’s not what you want to do. There are horrible genetic results. It can really collapse your gene pool. It’s immoral in our culture.”

But, he said, in Somalia, “up to 50% of the tribes are inbred. That’s first and second cousin marriages. The coefficient there is one of the highest rates of inter-family marriages in the world. Also some of the highest rates of child brides in the world. One of the highest rates of female genital mutilation on Earth is from Somalia. One of the highest rates of polygamy and tribal warfare and fraud and piracy all from Somalia.

Omar repeatedly has denied the charges, and a spokesman for her said such claims are “absurd and offensive.”

President Donald Trump has not withheld his opinion:

WorldNetDaily also reported President Trump’s blunt comments on the dispute.

“Ilhan Omar, whatever the hell her name is … We ought to get her the hell out. She married her brother in order to get in. Right? She married her brother.

“Can you imagine if Donald Trump married his sister? She’s a beautiful person. If I married my sister to get my citizenship, do you think I’d last for about two hours or would it be something less than that? She married her brother to get in. Therefore she’s here illegally. She should get the hell out. Throw her the hell out.”

Omar responded then with claims of Trump’s “obsession.”

The Daily Mail’s new report charged Mullin’s comments concerned Ilhan Omar and a brother, Ahmed Elmi.

“She allegedly was still married to her first husband, Ahmed Hirsi, at the time of the second marriage, the congresswoman has told friends who relayed the account to the Daily Mail. Omar has long denied the allegations. She has since remarried a third time and is wed to political consultant Tim Mynett,” the report said.

Mullin told conservative pundit Benny Johnson that Omar’s actions amounted to “possible illegal activity” and the investigation is “ongoing,” breaking a standard where officials typically do not discuss active investigations.

He confirmed, “We’re investigating.”

And he pointed out there’s “no expiration” to the criminal charges that could be involved.

She became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2000 when she was 17, but if the documents she filled out included false statements, the problems would not end easily.

“Abdihakim Osman, a past friend of Omar, told the Mail in 2020 that Omar said she wanted to get her brother papers so he could stay in the United States, at a time when she was married to her first husband Ahmed Hirsi,” the report said.

It said the first report Omar and her husband were siblings came on the Somalispot website in 2016.

Mullin confirmed it’s not politics driving the review, even though Trump has criticized her.

“When we move forward, it’s not political,” he said.

The Department of Homeland Security office did not deny Mullin’s claims, with a statement confirming, “DHS does not comment on specific investigative techniques, ongoing investigations, or potential future actions.”

But it also said, “No one, including members of Congress, are above the law.”
