Thanks to their ham-handed ways Obama and his cohorts have awakened many Americans to the fact that the present crisis in their nation's affairs involves the most profound threat to liberty and constitutional government in its history. As I wrote recently on my blog:
There is a widespread sense that the nation suffers from a general failure of elite leadership (in particular, the failure of both elite manipulated parties), a failure connected with the elite's cynical, purely self-aggrandizing ambition. The Obama faction's open contempt for the constitutional sovereignty of the people has cured the induced blindness of many who would otherwise be lulled by their "progressive" rhetoric or distracted by the "bread and circuses" news and entertainment propaganda routinely spewed by the reliable mercenaries of the elite media claque. So more and more people either suspect or are already convinced that the nation's current economic difficulties are being used (and possibly were contrived) by elite forces aiming to overthrow America's democratic, constitutional republic. This has produced revulsion and active resentment against the suspect elites that threatens to produce a populist uprising more intense than ever before in U.S. history.
For the sake of God's justice, the leaders of America's founding generation sought to establish a democratic, constitutional republic – a government of, by and for the people, complete with the moral culture required to sustain it. Leaders today (the folks I call America's elites, whom others more ominously portray as its "ruling class") have abandoned their commitment to the sovereignty of the people. This week I published three parts of a series about this on my blog. It explores the view of America's history and politics needed to understand the background and significance of this elite apostasy. It focuses in particular on the real nature of the so-called two-party system in America, which up to now has been an overlay for elite manipulation of the people.
The series substantiates an insight that will become vitally important for those willing to perpetuate the constitution of liberty that has until recently been accepted as the basis for government in the United States. "If … [t]he two most visible parties are tools of elite manipulation, then there is at all times a third party involved in all our political activities. It is the populist party, normally divided against itself by successful elite manipulation. In terms of its potential, it is always the majority party. The notion that "third parties fail" is therefore less an observation of fact than a statement of elite intention." On account of this insight, one begins to appreciate the enormous significance of what has been dubbed the "tea party."
It's the Party that is not a party. It allows acknowledgement of the unified activity of the populist element, but with an irony intended to keep it from achieving, or even effectively aiming to achieve, a political result consonant with its real political strength. Though united in opposition to both the elite contrived parties, it exists in a form intended to prevent it from engendering and rallying around any leadership truly independent of their control. Though it looks back upon and forward to betrayal by the GOP, that party is supposed nonetheless to offer the only effective outlet for its unifying revulsion against the subversive elite agenda brought fully to light by the arrogant haste of the Obama faction.

The "tea party" represents the force of united populist passion that could provide the political energy needed to set America's constitutional republic onto the path of its renewal and perpetuation. But it also represents the subversive elite's shrewd intention to thwart that possibility in order to fulfill its self-aggrandizing agenda. That agenda requires overthrowing the sovereignty of the American people on the way to achieving a result that ultimately allows the principle of elite domination once again to prevail throughout the world. For those Americans who sincerely desire to restore and perpetuate the American founders' vision of respect for God-ordained "justice for all," the daunting challenge of the moment is to penetrate the stratagems of elite manipulation so that the ever-present, but usually subdued, populist party can find and lift up leaders authentically committed to the sovereignty of the people.
The clue to successfully meeting this challenge lies in properly formulating and thinking through an ever more insistent question. Issues of moral concern (like restoring respect for the innocent life of our posterity and for the rights and obligations associated with the natural family) have produced election results that defy the supposed opposition between the two most visible political parties. For example, majorities in states throughout the nation have affirmed their will to maintain the understanding of marriage consistent with natural right. Yet, as former GOP chair Haley Barbour's recent pronouncements illustrate, the GOP's political elite seems stubbornly, pathetically, even desperately anxious to make sure that the passionately unifying issues of moral and constitutional principle are banished from the GOP's electoral playbook (including by the way, the issue of opposition to the forces in the Islamic world religiously committed to terrorism.)
Meanwhile, the same elite quietly cooperates with "the recent manifestation of moral passion organized under Glenn Beck's auspices" that "marks the emergence of the tea party's moral counterpart – a moral revival that is not a revival. The tea party is being manipulated in order to channel populist votes toward a result that threatens no real restoration of the people's authority. The Glenn Beck revival similarly aims to manipulate populist votes by providing an outlet for the moral passion of the people that pays lip service to God but that involves no restoration of real respect for the politically relevant authority of God."
Could it be that the GOP's elite division aims to suppress the unifying moral passion of the people precisely because it is the key to thwarting the strategy of manipulation intended to keep the people from acting effectively to restore the true foundations of their sovereignty until it is too late? The GOP elites keep insisting that moral issues are not the key to GOP victory. But are they the key to the victory all true American patriots really long for – which is to see the decent, constitutional sovereignty of the American people revitalized and renewed? I will develop this thought in the final installment of America's real party system.
